The #MeToo Movement

At Achilles Group, we are dedicated to designing and building a best in class HR Infrastructure both as your foundation for growth and as a firewall to mitigate employment related risks and protect against loss. With the rise of the #MeToo Movement late last year, we watched as sexual misconduct allegations against several high-profile men like Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, and former “Today” anchor, Matt Lauer were brought to light. Revelations were not unique to the entertainment industry, but existed at U.S. employers of every size and in virtually every field, from entertainment to academia to government.
The #MeToo Movement is serving as a collective voice to speak out against sexual misconduct in the workplace. Actress Alyssa Milano is credited with the first #MeToo tweet last year and by November, #MeToo had generated more than 2.3 million tweets and 77 million Facebook posts.
What does this mean for companies and HR professionals?
As company leaders and HR professionals, you should expect more employees to report sexual misconduct as a result of the #MeToo movement and be ready to act. Your main responsibility is to provide a work environment in which all workers and others who enter the space feel safe and respected. It’s also important to remember that targets of sexual misconduct can be men, as well as women, vendors, customers and visitors to your workplace.
Achilles Group has collaborated with thousands of leaders and team members to create and implement sexual misconduct policies and procedures. Our seasoned HR experts provide development, training, coaching, mentoring, compliance guidance and a quick advisor when things get risky or challenging. Whether you need a wide-scale makeover of processes and policies or a smaller set of changes, Achilles Group is here to help.
